Land Subsidence in Ishinomaki
Looking out to the ocean from Mt. Hiyoriyama, a winding blue line spread along the Old Kitakami River.
Looking out to the ocean from Mt. Hiyoriyama, a winding blue line spread along the Old Kitakami River. It was not here when I last came. The line is made of sandbags piled up along the bank. They may have been placed there in accordance with land subsidence occurring in this area. I followed the line upstream and found it extending to a residential area.
