Hoshi Seaweed Shop which has cultivated seaweed in Shichigahama, Miyagi for generations.
Hiroshi Hoshi, the head of the firm, says that his heart was broken because his business was severely damaged by the 3/11 earthquake and tsunami. However, he decided to participate in the fund to support the affected areas that was established by Music Securities, Inc., a music-related investment company, and was able to receive support from around the country.
Six months after the earthquake, he finally took the first step to restarting seaweed cultivation. On this day, he damp-dries baby seaweed grown in Matsushima Bay in the sun. This enables him to place the seaweed in the freezer without destroying the seaweed tissue.
