I was at a meeting in Shimane Prefecture when I learned about the earthquake. This paralyzed the transportation network, so all I could do was observe the situation of my hometown on a TV screen from a faraway place. This experience convinced me that flexible and wide-ranging response is necessary in the long-term for disabled people in times of disaster like this.
