Evacuation Route Research Institute: The Case of Shinchi, Soma District, Fukushima Prefecture (Part 2)
Takezawa reached the town hall after evacuating in a car with his grandmother. However, his grandmother was worried that she forgot to switch off the iron, so they went back home to make sure that it was off. On their way home, after turning a corner, they saw something that looked like a gigantic multicolored wall towering over the trees. He instantly felt that his home would exist no longer. Faced with this never before seen abnormality, he could not think about anything other than turning back and driving off into the safety of the mountains.
Evacuation Route Research Institute
A series that focuses on how people spent their time between the earthquake and the arrival of the tsunami on March 11th. By listing chronologically the actions they took before they reached higher ground and before they were rescued, the series studies the evacuation routes of people who survived the tsunami.
