The tsunami came up to just below my guest house. As the building was undamaged, I opened it as an evacuation center, to which about 50 local residents evacuated. It is hard to forget an experience that left such extensive damage, but we do need to think about moving forward. I believe that the duty of those of us who survived is to move forward, even if we can only manage one step or two steps at a time.
